Northgard Battlegrounds/Best builds
Northgard Battlegrounds Best Builds (October 2026)
Northgard Battlegrounds builds with the clan, gods, core structures, Fate cards and placement for each, plus what beats them after patch 0.77.111d.
Core pieces are the engine of a build and come first; flex slots change from run to run with what the shop offers. Levels and villager counts are what to aim for by the last rounds, not what you start with.
Raven Clan builds
Liv's boards: crits paid for by Economy, big Mystical camps, and a Krown bank.

Raven Banner Hall
3Warrior Camp

3Mine
3Woodcutter
3Gjallarhorn
1Skull of Hrungnir
Raven's crit engine: Liv ringed by Economy structures with a level 3 Warrior Camp beside her, so every crit turns your economy into damage.
Liv starts with 15 Crit Chance and gains 3 more, plus 50 Health and 5 Damage, after every battle. Duelist's Cunning pays her 2/3/4 Damage per Economy structure each time she crits. Refined Weaponry adds 3/6/9 Damage to each unit for every Economy piece touching it.
Placement
Liv sits in the middle of your Economy pieces, with a level 3 Warrior Camp touching her for +15 Crit Chance. Gjallarhorn goes against Divine structures, 10/20/30% more Action Speed for each one. Skull of Hrungnir needs a Circle of Stone beside it or it sends nothing.
Core picks

Play order
Level Rangers in Summer and Autumn, before you colonise more tiles: 3, then 6 Krowns and Lore per tile.
Duelist's Cunning comes in Winter, and a Jötunn Camp next to your Warbands late.- Thor at 8 favor gives every Warband +30% Damage and 15 Crit Chance.

3Hunter's Lodge
Big Mystical units behind a Warband wall: level 3 Jötunn Camp and Draugr Tombs on Rocky ground, a Wyvern Nest by a Mountain, healers at the back.
Each Mystical camp sends one or two large units with their own numbers: a level 3 Jötunn has 1,650 Health, 5 Cleave and a 0.4 second stun, and Draugr on Rocky ground get +600 Armor. Mythic Rage gives every Mystical unit +8 Damage.
Placement
Jötunn Camp gains 40/80/120 Health per neighbouring Warband, so put it among your Shield Bearer and Axe Thrower Camps. Draugr Tombs go on Rocky tiles, the Wyvern Nest next to a Mountain, and the Healer's Huts behind.
Core picks
Jötunn CampThe main tank: 1,650 Health, cleave and a stun at level 3, more Health per Warband beside it
Roll with the Punches
Monstrous Swingoptional
Draugr TombsTwo Draugr that get +600 Armor at level 3 on Rocky ground

Play order
- Axe Thrower Camp and Healer's Hut are round 1 buys.
Jötunn Camp is Rare and the shop shows no Rare before Summer, so take it then, often in place of a Warrior Camp.
Draugr Tombs and Wyvern Nest follow from Autumn.- Roll with the Punches makes the Jötunn tougher with every hit.
Flex picks
Shield Bearer CampLv 3 · 3 villagers · front lineFront-line Warband: Armor for its neighbours, Health for the Jötunn

What beats it
Stag boards pairing a level 3 Wyvern Nest with Bifrost, a level 3 Naglfar on a big bank, and two Wyvern Nests with Ranged that reach your healers.

Krown bankLiv
Thor 8
Baldr 5
3Mercenary Camp
3Naglfar
3Farm
3Hunter's Lodge
Raven's banking board: hold 24 Krowns and every Mercenary Camp sends four Mercenaries, while Naglfar gains Health and Frost for each Krown you keep.
Mercenary Camp sends one Mercenary per 6 Krowns in your bank, four at most, and every camp reads the same bank: keep 24 Krowns and level 1 camps fill up. Naglfar's Son of Hrymr gets +5/10/15 Health and +1/2/3 Frost per banked Krown, so a level 3 Naglfar on 24 Krowns starts with 360 extra Health.
Placement
Farm on a Fertile tile beside the camps and Naglfar: +75 Health at level 3, plus 15 every round. Hunter's Lodges touch the camps for Damage and count as Economy for Refined Weaponry. Naglfar goes in front, next to a Yggdrasil touching a Forest.
Core picks
Mercenary CampFour Mercenaries per camp while you hold 24 Krowns, even at level 1
Spiked Skinoptional
FarmOn a Fertile tile: Health for the camps and Naglfar, more every round
Hunter's LodgeDamage for the camps, and an Economy piece for Refined Weaponry
Play order
Farm, Hunter's Lodge and a House on Fertile ground are Spring buys.- Naglfar is Epic and comes late; Prepare to Fight levels it.
- Spend only what comes in above the bank, and add one more Mercenary Camp in the final round.

What beats it
A Stag board with level 3 Hlidskjalf, Mjölnir burn and heavy healing; six Trackers with a Wyvern Nest that win before Gjallarhorn's haste stacks up; wide boards of Mercenaries, Kobolds and Bifrost.
Stag Clan builds
Brand's boards: an Einherjar wall on Bifrost, and Kobolds sped up by Economy.

3Hlidskjalf

3Bifrost
3Yggdrasil
3Shield Bearer Camp
3Warrior Camp
Stag's late-game wall: Hlidskjalf beside a level 3 Bifrost sends six Einherjar that each revive once. Nerfed on 10-12 and again on 10-19: less Health and Armor.
Only Stag fields Hlidskjalf, the one source of Einherjar. Three villagers make three, a level 3 Bifrost beside it adds three, and each revives once: twelve bodies to kill. Einherjar count as Melee and Warband, so Baldr's armor and Thor's damage both land.
Placement
Hlidskjalf touches Bifrost and Yggdrasil; Yggdrasil also needs a Forest. At level 3 it more than triples Einherjar health. Bifrost copies every neighbouring Warband, so Shield Bearer and Warrior Camps take its free sides.
Core picks
HlidskjalfThe core: one Einherjar per villager, and only Stag fields them
Prepare to Fight
Cut Them Down
BifrostThree more Einherjar at level 3, plus extra units from every Warband beside it
YggdrasilAdds 225% Einherjar Health at level 3 while it touches a Forest
Shield Bearer CampA Warband on Bifrost's free side; Armor for its neighbours
Warrior CampA Warband on Bifrost's free side; Crit Chance for Melee neighbours
Play order
The shop offers no Legendary before Autumn and 15% in Winter, so keep a tile free for Bifrost rather than stall.- Prepare to Fight levels Hlidskjalf.
Flex picks
Hunter's LodgeLv 3 · centre of the armyDamage for every unit around it, in the middle of the army
Wyvern NestLv 3 · damage slotRanged damage behind the wall
Mythic Vitality
Second Wind
Tracker CampLv 3 · or Axe Thrower CampRanged Burn from the back; an Axe Thrower Camp does the same job
Hall of SkaldsLv 3 · 3 villagers · late healersLate healers to keep the wall standing
What beats it
A bigger copy: two Hlidskjalf on a level 3 Bifrost; a level 3 Altar of Kings with Bifrost and Gjallarhorn; Frost from Breath of Winter or a Rocky Völund's Forge; and your own Marketplaces kept too long.
Patches 0.77.111d and 0.78.27d
0.77.111d took the Einherjar's cleave (1 to 0) and slowed them (0.8 to 0.7). 0.78.27d cut their Health to 150/300/450 and Armor to 20/40/60, and Yggdrasil to 75/150/225%.

3Farm
Stag's Kobold engine: a level 3 Kobold Camp that speeds up with every Economy structure you own, wrapped in Hunter's Lodge, Forge and Offering Well.
Kobold Camp sends three Kobolds and gives them +0.1/0.2/0.3 Action Speed for every Economy structure anywhere in your settlement: at level 3, six Economy pieces add +0.3 six times over to a 0.5 base. Kobolds are Mystical and Melee, so Offering Well, Forge and Baldr's armor all reach them.
Placement
The camp sits where neighbour buffs reach it: Hunter's Lodge for +18 Damage, Forge for Armor, Offering Well for Health and Damage that grow every round. Economy pieces count from anywhere, so pack Marketplaces together for Krowns.

What beats it
Wide cleave with big healing, and a Brand built on Valorous Leader.
Patch 0.77.111d
The patch set out to end Kobold spam: cleave now reaches 2.5 and deals 50% (it was 1.5 and 25%), which punishes small bodies packed together.
