Carnage overview

Carnage is VAMPIR's gunner, a ranged class that fights from 8.5 m with a rifle and a pair of pistols. Its Sniper Bullet passive adds 5% ranged damage plus 1.2% for every metre between Carnage and the target, so it rewards standing at the edge of its range instead of trading hits up close. Most of its damage rides on critical hits: The Hunt Begins and Exploitation are its two sure sources of crits, and Disarm can lower a target's critical resistance by 15%.

In PvE it shares S with Viper and Bloodstained: the fastest boss killer of the five and quick on packs, but the most fragile class on Naricanje Valley's season floor 30 and a riskier choice to leave hunting alone. In PvP it is A, rising to S in large clan fights where it shoots from behind the front line, and dropping in duels, which its kit was not built for. Pick Carnage if you want to play by hand and like positioning. Pick Bloodstained or Viper if you want a character that farms safely while you are away.

How to play Carnage in PvE

Carnage plays best where it can keep its distance. In the field, open packs with Wild Shot of the Soul, which hits three targets six times and stretches your basic-attack range by 3 m for 6 seconds, then finish with Wild Shot and basic attacks from outside melee reach. Retreating Fire steps you 3 m back before it fires, which buys room when a pack closes in.

On bosses, the order you cast in matters more than how fast you cycle. Cast Sharpshooter first, so your next three skills gain 40% skill damage, then Disarm to cut the boss's critical resistance, and spend the buffed casts on Deathsnipe, Wild Shot of the Soul and Wild Shot. Leave Damnation and Retreating Fire on auto, turn Soul's Rest off, and switch Darkness's Fall off when MP runs short.

The weak spot is staying alive. Carnage has no damage-resistance skill of its own, so a long fight where the boss keeps hitting, like Naricanje Valley's season floor 30, punishes it harder than any other class. Percentage damage resistance helps it more there than flat defence.

How to play Carnage in PvP

Carnage is built for many against many. In Arena and clan fights, stay behind your front line and fire from range: Deathsnipe hits up to five targets, and Retreating Fire adds 10% PvP damage for 7 seconds. Disarm's PvP effect lowers the target's ranged damage resistance by 7%, which helps every ranged ally on that target.

The Hunt Begins is the skill book to get first. It adds 5% critical rate and 40% critical damage rate for 30 seconds, and with Exploitation it is how Carnage lands crits when it needs them: the strongest burst window in its kit.

One on one, Carnage is the third of the five. A class that closes the gap, like Akasha with three dash charges or Grim Reaper teleporting in with Shadow Infiltration, takes away the distance its passive needs. Keep Retreating Fire ready to break contact, and avoid duels you can't open from range.

Carnage skills

Carnage has 15 class skills, five General, five Uncommon, three Rare and two Heroic, plus two passives it always has. Skill names are the official English names from the global client.

  1. Disarm: Your opener on any boss: the critical-resistance cut is what makes The Hunt Begins and Exploitation pay off.
  2. Retreating Fire: As much an escape as a damage skill: keep it off cooldown in PvP.
  3. Sharpshooter: Starts every boss rotation. Spend its three charges on your heaviest skills.
  4. Deathsnipe: Save it for the moment a group bunches up in Arena or a clan fight.
  5. The Hunt Begins: The first big skill book to buy.

Boss skill order

For bosses, set this as the skill priority in one of your combat presets.

On auto: Damnation and Retreating Fire. Off: Soul's Rest, the PvP-only Blood Brand, and Darkness's Fall whenever MP runs short.

  1. Sharpshooter: buffs the next three skills.
  2. Disarm: cuts the boss's critical resistance.
  3. Deathsnipe
  4. Wild Shot of the Soul
  5. Wild Shot

Power spike

It fires a 390% shot, then 580% to everything around the target, with a 2-second stun chance. It is the highest-damage skill in the kit, and because the blast hits everything around the target, it is worth holding in a clan fight until enemies bunch up.

Bloodshapes for Carnage

A Bloodshape's stats work on any class, but its passive skills switch on only when its own class wears it. These 22 carry Carnage's passives. The Prophet line is Carnage's own Legendary set. Names are the official English names from the global client.

Carnage weapons

Carnage has six guns. Four climb the PvE line, each adding ranged attack and critical damage. The Prophet pair trades critical damage for PvP attack and PvP damage amplification. A combat preset swaps weapons in one tap, so if you play both modes, keep one of each line.

Changing to Carnage

If you already own a Legendary Bloodshape of the class you are moving to, that slot needs no conversion, and at 100 Class Change Proofs each that saving adds up fast.

  1. Opens only in announced windows. Needs character level 60 and 2,000 Diamonds (Farming Diamonds count).
  2. Level, EXP, quests and items carry over. Weapons of any class become Carnage guns at the same grade, enhancement, refinement and Blessing.
  3. Only the old class's own Bloodshapes convert, grade for grade, and never into one you already own. Skill cards keep the highest grade of each. Quick slots and skill settings reset.
